Di Sicuro Tourist Inn

The room was clean and tidy, and the location was handy for Galle Road, restaurants, bars, and Hikkaduwa Beach, which was an easy walk away. We kept the balcony door closed because of the drain beside it and didn’t have much trouble with mosquitoes. The manager or owner spoiled the stay for us. Checkout was at noon, but around 11:50 AM he tried to open our door with a duplicate key. He said he’d called twice and we hadn’t answered, but that still wasn’t a reason to enter the room. We left at 11:58, and he was very disrespectful.

The room had clean, good furniture and hot water, which can be a real luxury in Sri Lanka. But we found it impossible to sleep there. Maybe it depends on which side your room is on, but ours picked up every sound outside: birds, insects, dogs, and trains passing about every half hour from around 5 am. There are ventilation openings above the window that can’t be closed, so the noise comes straight in. I came away with mixed feelings about the hotel.

We had a large ground-floor room for three, and the price was good. There’s a place outside to dry clothes, which came in handy. The doors close at 9 PM, though you can still get in through another door using a different key. A very nice hotel.

Really peaceful and quiet, and just a walk from Hikkaduwa Beach. The staff are easy and pleasant to deal with, and the place is super clean. A good budget stay, with service and comfort worth the price. Would recommend it.
