Kumu Beach

The staff made our four nights at Kumu Beach feel special, always welcoming, kind, smiling, and attentive. They went out of their way to keep us comfortable. When we wanted to use a nearby gym, one staff member suggested his own gym and helped us get access, which we really appreciated. Our room was beautifully decorated, with lovely lighting, a luxurious bathroom, a comfortable bed, a mini fridge, and a coffee machine. The food selection was good, and we tried most of the menu. The Sri Lankan sweets on New Year’s Day were amazing, and happy hour from 5-6pm was a treat too. We enjoyed the yoga classes, though they cost extra. My only small suggestion is an outdoor gym on the grounds. We like staying active, and running on the roads or beach wasn’t really possible. Still, the hotel was very relaxing without one. Thanks to the whole team, and hopefully we’ll be back!

We had a peaceful, memorable getaway at Kumu Beach. The place was calm, stylish, and relaxing, with well-kept grounds and clean, comfortable rooms. Beach access and the stunning ocean view made the stay feel especially lovely. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. The food was a highlight too, with a distinctive menu that we really enjoyed. Highly recommended.

For what we paid, the service and value didn’t measure up, especially beside the other tear drop properties we stayed at on our Sri Lanka trip. We were there for three nights and noticed several things that made the price hard to justify, even if some weren’t major problems. At arrival, staff seemed distracted by phone calls and didn’t give us much attention. The sitting area they brought us to had cushions and couches in disarray. The rooms weren’t cleaned very well, and after cleaning I found dirty towels left in the room. We complained and that was sorted out. There also wasn’t continuous hot water for showers. We were told there was a 25Litre tank, and although they tried to fix it, it didn’t make much difference. We’ve stayed at other boutique 5 star hotels for similar or slightly lower prices, with much better service and cleanliness. Kumu beach needs a deep clean and thorough staff training, and should lower its prices to match the value and service.

The rooms at Kumu Beach are beautifully designed, the property is marvelous, and the ocean view is superb. Still, it was the hospitality that made our stay unforgettable. Everyone was professional, friendly, smiling, and ready to help. The restaurant team took great care to make sure we were happy, and the food was amazing. We celebrated my wife’s birthday there, and it felt for a moment like we were among friends. We’ve traveled around the world and have spent a month in Sri Lanka, but we’ll always remember our time at Kumu Beach.
