There aren't any beach bars or restaurants around Twin Waters Resort, which was fine by us. After three busy weeks in Sri Lanka, we wanted somewhere quiet to rest before heading home. The warm, friendly family made us feel welcome and looked after us so well.

We loved our walk through the Anawilundawa bird sanctuary, just a five-minute drive from the hotel. We spotted sea eagles, several kinds of kingfisher, pelicans and storks, along with lots of cormorants, herons and egrets. Eddie, Manel and Luke took such good care of us that we felt almost like family by the time we left. Eddie was especially courteous, and we enjoyed talking with him about all sorts of things. He spent much of his life in England, so his English is perfect, and his Burmese background gives him an interesting outlook on the world. The dining area is cleverly arranged to catch the sea breeze and stay cool. Traditional and modern design work well together there. Our room was comfortable, spotlessly clean and had modern amenities that all worked properly. The grounds were well kept, and the pool was excellent. We stayed two nights in October 2025 and had a really lovely time.

Chriso's prawns are a must try, and the food was a real highlight. We also loved eating in the dining area, where you get a sea view and a lovely breeze. Right in front of the hotel, Muthupanthiya beach is great for a long walk, and there are walks on both the north and south sides of the Ananwilundawa wetlands. The location feels special, between picturesque muthupanthiya beach and a freshwater body beside the Anawilundawa RAMSAR wetland. The spotless chalets have wonderful views and all the amenities we needed. Waking up to the sound of water and birds was sublime. Luke, Manel, Eddie and everyone else were so helpful and courteous, they made our holiday feel special and treated us like part of the family.

If you're after somewhere calm and tucked away, with delicious home cooked food, friendly smiles and good company, this place is for you. It's a peaceful haven run by some of the kindest, loveliest people we could have hoped to stay with. Thanks, Eddie and your family, for such a perfect stay 🥰

We went in April 2025, though this review is late. It was our first stop in Sri Lanka and set a high bar for the rest of the trip. As new parents coming off a few exhausting months, we needed a couple of days to recharge before the vacation got going. We got that and more here. The quiet atmosphere, simple design, and above all the kindness of Edward, Manel and their family made it our best stay in Sri Lanka.
