Muduna Walawwa Resort

The location is scenic and quiet, and there’s a small swimming pool too. This was one of the most comfortable, straightforward places we’ve stayed in Kandy. The bedding and linen were spotless, and the staff kept everything in good order. Tea, coffee, and drinking water in the room were supplied in sufficient amounts, and breakfast was more than adequate. We’d consider staying here again.

One staff member showed real compassion when we were leaving the resort. We often drive guests around Sri Lanka safely and comfortably, but once a trip is over, hotel staff usually don’t ask about the taxi or how it will manage the difficult exit. This man, whose name I don’t know, asked me to wait until he finished checking in a guest, then came back to help me turn my car around. Without him it would have been a real struggle, as it has been at many other hotels. His kindness mattered more than profit. Thank you so much ❤

There was a serious mold issue in the hotel. In room 101 on the ground floor, near the entrance, the rooms smelled damp and earthy, with a strong mushroom-like odor that made me think mold was growing. The bathroom was covered in mold, and the smell by the AC unit was so strong I nearly vomited. After I complained, staff moved us to room 203, but the mold problem there seemed much the same. The hotel restaurant also felt like a scam. They order food through PickMe from other places for very little, then serve it cold to hotel guests. I’d avoid this place. Paying a little more can get you somewhere much better. I’ve dealt with indoor mold before, and it can cause serious harm to your body.

I stayed here with my family and kids. The rooms were clean, the hospitality was great, and breakfast was delicious. It was excellent value for money and I’d highly recommend it as a budget hotel.
