Grand Serendib Hotel

Breakfast had lots of choices and was rich and delicious. Our spacious, well-kept room had a balcony with a breathtaking view, and we were treated to lovely birthday surprises during our stay. From arrival onward, everything felt warm, thoughtful, and well organized. Most of all, the staff were kind, attentive, genuinely caring, and always smiling. It was one of the best service experiences we've had, and reflected the warmth and hospitality of the Sri Lankan people we've met so far. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly return. Highly recommended!

The water in the pool was on the cold side, so keep that in mind if you prefer warmer swimming. Otherwise, the hotel is well maintained, with spacious, modern, clean rooms and friendly staff who made us feel welcome. Set on a hill, it has exceptional panoramic views over Kandy, making it a memorable place to unwind. We also enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere at both the rooftop bar and restaurant, where the dishes were tasty and well prepared.

The rooftop was a lovely place for dinner and breakfast, and breakfast was pretty good, with plenty of fruit, yoghurt, coffee, and hot Western dishes. I can't remember if there were Sri Lankan options. It can get balmy up there, so bring a long sleeve in case you feel cold. This little hotel in the hills above Kandy is just a few minutes' drive from the lake, cultural show, and Sri Dalada Maligawa. Our room was nice, clean, and well presented. It wasn't especially big, but there was enough room for luggage and to walk around without tripping over anything. We had a seating area, a balcony with a good view of the city below, and lots of tea and coffee choices. A couple of things could be better: the curtain setup is odd, with a huge gap that lets light in because the ceiling design prevented the rail from reaching the edge of the window. The bathroom smelled a little, and at first we had no hot water, though they fixed that within 15 minutes. It was a very pleasant stay, and I'd recommend this place in Kandy.

I took a date to their Grand Sky Lounge. The bar was amazing, and around noon the whole place takes on a subtle sepia glow. It's a lovely spot to look at, with stunning views of the town and hilltops. The spaghetti was delicious, though the portion could've been bigger. We were really impressed with the flavour of the Dry Martini and Sherbet Temple. Nothing else stood out as bad, but three taxes are added to the bill and come to around 28-30% in total, so plan your budget accordingly.
