Heavens Holiday Resort

We had a really good time here. The room and pool were nice, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. They even offered us Sri Lankan sweets for New Year.

The bathroom smelled strongly, and the odor had spread into the room by the time we returned from going out. Our stay was unpleasant enough that we won't come back, even though this was our second visit. We'd requested an early check-in for an extra fee and called ahead while on our way so the room could be ready. It wasn't ready when we arrived. Less than ten minutes after checking in, the power went out for 6.5 hours, from 10.50am until 4.45pm. We were told it was an unexpected repair or breakdown. At checkout we were charged the full room price and early check-in fee, despite spending that time without power. Our request for a discount was refused because, they said, we'd stayed nearly two hours past checkout. The checkout time hadn't been stated in the room or when we checked in.

This felt like OYO rooms rather than a resort, with few proper amenities. The pool was poorly maintained, there were no toiletries or hot water, and bedsheets were used as blankets. The food was poor too. Not a pleasant stay for families or anyone hoping for a good experience.

It was good for the price, though there's a lot that needs improving. I still had a really bad experience: I reserved two rooms for three people each, but at check-in they gave us one family room and one low-quality regular room without AC.
