Vino Villa

We arrived with a confirmed booking, but were told the place was closed and our room wasn’t clean, so we couldn’t stay. The men outside seemed rude, so we left and went to the next place down the road, which was much nicer and had kinder owners. We didn’t stay here, so I can’t say anything about the rooms, but I’m glad we didn’t.

The bed was comfortable, and the water pressure was the best, with plenty of genuinely hot water. The room wasn’t huge, but it was big enough, and the lake isn’t far away. The only problem was the dog next door barking constantly, which is outside the hotel’s control.

Our stay at VINO VILLA in Kandy was stressful and felt unsafe. The rooms were dated and uncomfortable, and the service was poor. There was no AC remote in the AC rooms. When we arrived, the owners had their dog in an empty guest room, and the whole second floor smelled strongly of dogs. Then the dog got into our room and bit my husband on the leg. He spent the night in hospital. The owners showed no concern, offered no help, and accepted no responsibility. They didn’t offer to pay any of the medical costs. The next morning, they still demanded full payment for both rooms we had booked. The location was unpleasant too. Please stay somewhere else, and don’t be misled by what the owner or the woman managing the property promises. The reality was very different.

The owner made our visit feel special. He was kind, friendly, always around to help, and offered recommendations that made us feel at home. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well equipped, and the whole stay was lovely. We’ll definitely come back. If you want a warm atmosphere and helpful service, this is a great place.
