Big Game on Wheels - Wilpattu

The BBQ dinner was delicious, and the food here was great. The glamping tents were comfortable, and the staff were all kind and helpful. After the safari, one gentleman served tea and took time to explain each cookie and treat, even showing me pictures of the different ingredients on his phone. I really appreciated that care.

The safari was a highlight: well organised, respectful of the environment, and led by people who really knew the park and its wildlife. It felt authentic and memorable. The camp itself is stunning, surrounded by nature and wonderfully peaceful. The staff were warm, attentive and clearly passionate about their work, always making sure we were comfortable. If I had one tiny piece of constructive feedback, it’s that the food could perhaps be a little better. That doesn’t take away from what was an exceptional experience. We chose full board, and it was well worth it. Every meal was delicious, served with a view over the lake. We also went on three safaris, each a special experience with lots of interesting wildlife. Wilpattu is stunning, and the guides and drivers were knowledgeable and passionate about nature. The camp is beautiful countryside, full of birds, bats, lizards and deer. Our tent was comfortable and had everything we needed. From arrival to departure, the staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make our few days there great. We’d strongly recommend spending a couple of days here. It’s been a real highlight of our Sri Lanka trip!

We had such a memorable time at Big Game Camp Wilpattu. Gavin, our host, was wonderful and kept checking in, helping with whatever we needed. The tents were clean and comfortable. We saw lots of animals on safari, including a bear, which is rare to see. Ishara and Thilina were amazing at spotting wildlife, and I’d recommend them as guides. After dinner, Thilana took us on a night walk. We didn’t expect to see much, but he showed us snakes, bul-bul and a Lorris monkey, also rare to see. The walk was really informative and memorable. I’d recommend booking both a stay and safari at Big Game Camp Wilpattu.
