The Other Corner

We spent a wonderful stay at ‘The other corner’, and my whole family wanted to extend it, though we ran out of time. The green, peaceful estate has plenty to explore: cute ‘dandu Leno’, a butterfly garden, glittering scorpions in their bunkers at night, a hanging bridge across the lake, a tree house, and vegetable gardens in the back land. There are bicycle and boat rides too, but we didn't get time for those. The location is handy for animal safari park, sigiriya, pidurangala and more. Our chalet was beautiful, clean, tidy, cozy and comfortable. There was no TV, which might actually encourage guests to enjoy the estate instead. The staff were outstanding, friendly and courteous. Their welcome with the traditional lamp was touching, they handled everything with a smile, and arranged our safari in no time. The food was unbelievably good, with great menus each day, generous portions and lovely presentation. Both Western and Sri Lankan dishes were delicious, and the ‘kibula banis’ they baked were the best we've tasted in SL. The bonfire and outdoor dinner arranged for us was amazing. Truly the best trip of my life.

We spent three nights here with our two kids, aged 8 and 12, along with four other families whose children were between 8 and 12. The bungalow in the jungle was lovely, calm and just right for relaxing, with a small pool to keep the kids entertained. The staff were caring and lovely, and explained a lot about the jungle animals and Sri Lankan traditions. We ate all our meals at the hotel. The menu was generous, varied and really tasty. We had an amazing time, and I'd highly recommend the place.

The safari was an unforgettable adventure for all of us, kids included, and we loved every minute. We were surrounded by serene nature, with wonderfully cool temperatures that felt like a real contrast to the tropical setting. The chalets are gorgeous, mixing a luxurious air-conditioned interior with the look of a local village house and coconut leaf roofing. Rooms were spotless, the food was absolutely divine, and the staff showed incredible hospitality. This place really is another corner. We'll definitely visit again.

The greenery and quiet made our stay at The Otter Corner especially relaxing. The staff were kind and made a real effort to keep us comfortable, and the food was delicious too. We'd gladly come back.
