Zimbay Hotel

We were first given a nice room, but about half an hour later they moved us because, apparently, there had been a booking mistake. The Cabana we got had only a partial roof, frogs inside, and a very dirty net. We gently told the manager we wanted to cancel since it didn't match what we'd booked and seemed worse than camping for the price. Booking.com had no photos of the Cabanas. The owner then got aggressive and screamed in my face, demanding payment even though we hadn't used the room or slept there. I was so frightened I was shaking and crying. I would not recommend this place.

Really good hotel for the price. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

A great vacation base in Arugambay, with clean rooms, excellent service, and access to the kitchen. The location is perfect.

The place is about 1 km from Arugambay Beach, and Matara Railway Station and Bandaranaike International Airport are roughly a five-hour drive away. At Zimbay, the rooms are basic but cosy, with tiled floors, a fan, mosquito net, clothes rack, desk and a small seating area. They look out onto the garden and have private bathrooms with towels, a shower and free toiletries. There’s a restaurant serving local food, with special diet meals available if requested, and room service too. The staff are friendly and can help with luggage storage, currency exchange or laundry. You can also rent a bicycle or car, and arrange an airport shuttle or tours on request. WiFi and on-site parking are free, and the front desk is open 24 hours.
