Ceylonika was such a relief after the overpriced hotels and crowded beaches we’d been tired of. The couple who run this three-room home stay were warm and helpful, and our air-conditioned room was spotless. Breakfast came on time with plenty of fresh fruit, and they’ll cook an evening meal if you want one. The price is very reasonable, and the beach is a three-minute walk away. BENATOA felt like a welcoming little town with an authentic feel that seemed missing elsewhere in the country. We loved our stay and can’t praise them enough. Come here before heading back to Colombo for your flight. We were so fed up with dirty rooms and bedding, rude crowds, and feeling ripped off. BENATAO was great.

A quiet spot between the railway and the main road. The beds are comfy, and there’s wifi, airco, a small fridge, and a fan. Breakfast is included and was nice.

The beach is pretty close, and it’s just three minutes to the railway station. Nimal can arrange transfers to or from the airport. He and his wife were very friendly, and we enjoyed the tasty breakfast with fruit each day. The guest house is really cozy, and having air conditioning was a big plus since it still isn’t so common in Sri Lanka.
