It’s very close to the train station and town centre, which is handy, but the nearby nightclubs played extremely loud music every night until around 4 a.m. The family running the place were genuinely kind and welcoming, and I could see they meant well. Still, the cleanliness was far below an acceptable standard. The bathroom was unbearable, there was no hot water, and the room didn’t have enough blankets for cold weather. I told them about these problems before leaving early the next morning. They said they would clean the room, but it wasn’t done, so I moved somewhere else. There may be little they can do about the nightlife outside, but cleanliness and basic amenities are in their control and really need attention.

We spent two nights at “All Joys” and found it a great base for exploring Ella. It’s near Ella Railway Station and town, yet the setting is quiet. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the service was friendly and attentive. We tried both breakfast and dinner, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. I’d recommend it for a calm stay in Ella.

We stayed here while walking the Pekoe Trail. The hosts were really kind, and our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good too. Highly recommended!

After stage 15 of the Pekoe Trail, my wife and I stayed here. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the meals were excellent. It’s just a little outside town, so it’s quieter, but still close to everything. Mihandra and Vijitha were wonderfully warm and friendly. One of my favorite moments off the trail was a cooking lesson with Vijitha, where we learned to make foods we’d loved eating along the way. Getting there from the end of the stage is easy: leave the train station on the side opposite the main exit, towards Ella Bar & Hostel. You may need to step over a fence. The lane entrance is a few metres up the road. A couple of things to know: Booking.com listed laundry facilities, but they weren’t available. We found laundry down the road at Tunnel Corner Inn for 600lkr per kilo. The property had WiFi, but we couldn’t use it during our two-day stay.
