Mrs Sahana had even arranged our airport transfer, and she runs the place with real professionalism and high standards. Everything in the house was in order, and it was one of the cleanest, tidiest apartments we've stayed in in the country. I could work at the desk indoors or outside without disturbance, and the air conditioning was quiet. There's a raised edge in the shower, so the whole bathroom doesn't get soaked. Breakfast came with eggs, toast, butter, jam, a plate of fruit, and a heavenly coconut pancake. The room had plenty of daylight and good lamps, while the front porch was lovely for evening chats. We'd definitely stay here again if we return to town.

Sahana was a lovely hostess, and the breakfast she served was amazing. We also really enjoyed the river safari she offered. The room was spacious and comfortable, and although it wasn't new or modern, it was clean and had no bugs. There's a fan, air conditioning, and a mosquito net.

The location was a problem: it's on a quiet street by the train tracks, with no shops nearby, and you can hear the trains. The WiFi was very slow and stopped working on our second day. There was no shower gel or hairdryer in the room. We arrived to find no drinking water, not even a small bottle, and there wasn't a shop on the street where we could buy one. In a hot country where Europeans and Westerners can't drink the tap water, that's a real shame. Check-out was at 10:30, so early we barely had time to do anything and couldn't sleep in. The woman wasn't very talkative or helpful, partly because her English wasn't good enough for a conversation, so it was hard to make ourselves understood.

Great value for the money, with the beach and restaurants close by. The place is friendly and cozy, clean and tidy, and has a comfortable bed, a hot shower, and a great breakfast.
