The riverside location gives a good view, which was the best part of our stay at Riverside Araliya. We booked for two adults and two kids, but the receptionist made a fuss about letting all four of us stay in one room. We had to explain that we'd included everyone when booking. There was no privacy because guests in the neighboring room could come onto our balcony. The walls were wet and covered in fungus, with a pungent smell that badly affected my kids' sleep. The bedsheets, pillow covers, and towels were stained and unclean. After several follow-ups, we finally got clean towels. In the morning, they again argued about giving breakfast to all four of us, and we had to insist on the number we'd booked. Breakfast was minimal, and the staff were discourteous, which made the stay painful. We booked without much research and had high expectations.

The manager was arrogant and gave us rooms despite knowing about their problems. The cutlery was dirty and stained, and in most rooms the bathroom doors wouldn't lock. Some main doors didn't lock either. The rooms stank and weren't cleaned at all. Towels seemed to be dried and handed over without being washed properly. There were no basic amenities: no pool, TV, or room Wi-Fi, no kettle, and no clean soap. The hotel was very badly managed.

The location isn't especially appealing, and getting to the attractions, which are a bit far away, requires transport. There's no lift or intercom, so requesting room service or housekeeping is a big problem every time. The AC rooms are okay, as are the Wi-Fi and TV. The customized-tour buffet dinner was just okay, while breakfast seemed more suited to local tastes than international travelers. A typical beach hotel.

During our two-night stay in the last week of December 2017, we found the rooms really small and poorly lit, with only two lights, one LED and one table lamp. There was a TV but no set-top box, and there was no internet or phone connection in the room. The washrooms weren't cleaned properly, and nobody in our family liked the horrible breakfast. Some balcony doors wouldn't open. Whenever we had a complaint, we had to go down two floors to speak to the hotel owner, who didn't respond well. Basic amenities were lacking.

The rooms were okay and clean, and the staff were really nice, friendly, and helpful. The food wasn't good, though. The main attraction is the water sports, including the recently introduced flyboard. There was lots of fun to be had.
