Basel Holiday Homes

I've stayed at ‘basel holiday homes’ before, and it has become even nicer and better looked after since then. The apartment room was clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Much appreciation to the new management team. I'd recommend it to more people I know.

We booked the three-bedroom apartment for 18 days because it was close to my brother's home. The service was so poor that I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone or stay there again. I would give it zero if I could. The so-called GM, Kavitha, has no idea how to run the place, and the woman GM wasn't interested in supervising the fit-out, expecting my husband to do it instead. We arrived after around 12 hours of travel, after midnight, and asked for warm water in the shower. Staff told us to switch it on and wait 10 minutes, but nothing happened. We found out the next morning that a valve hadn't been turned on. The sheets in two rooms were changed just once, after repeated requests. In my son's room, neither the towels nor the sheets were changed at all. The AC there wasn't working, and staff said nobody had complained. They finally replaced it after 10 days. Kitchen waste wasn't cleared daily, so we had to remind them. The kitchen had cockroaches. After we complained, they sprayed, but left the dead ones there the next day. They also insisted on cash payment.

The new management has been great, and I really like the service. The place is tidy, the staff are friendly, and I'd definitely recommend it to more people.

The neighbourhood was quiet, just what I wanted, and I could reach town by tuk tuk for around SLR 100. There are a couple of small shops within walking distance, while Wellawatta High Road and Havelock City Mall are also an easy tuk tuk ride away for about SLR 100. I stayed for a month in a comfortable, very clean three-bedroom apartment. It had one attached bathroom and one shared bathroom, AC in every room, and a private balcony off each bedroom. The staff were really friendly and helpful, regularly offering to clean and tidy the apartment and checking that everything was okay. I'd definitely stay here again.
