Juliana Hotel Colombo

The bathroom was dirty, and the hot water stopped working while we were showering. We had to wait for it to heat up again until a technician arrived. The room was very disappointing too. I stayed overnight with my kids, and we found bed bugs in the bed and mattress, crawling even on the table. We moved to a couple of other rooms in the middle of the night, but they had bugs as well. I would never recommend this hotel for an overnight stay.

The drains were the worst part. Shower water wouldn’t clear properly, so I had to wait every couple of minutes, and the sink water ran onto the floor from behind because its tube wasn’t connected. The rooms were dark, and the air conditioner looked old and kind of broken on the outside, though it worked fine. The door was also hard to open at first. I needed help, and they struggled with it for a few seconds. I liked the calm, welcoming feel at first, and the staff were friendly, but that changed once I got to the room. It looks new outside but old-fashioned inside. Not worth visiting until it’s fully rebuilt.

The staff were very cooperative, and the rooms had almost all the facilities you need. It’s a very good, clean and comfortable hotel in Colombo, with prices that are quite reasonable compared with other hotels. Strongly recommend staying here.

I found the customer service extremely poor, and there didn’t seem to be anyone responsible for management at the property. Reception staff, especially Kasun/Pawan, made the stay unpleasant, and even the General Manager didn’t answer calls or complaints. I’m also disappointed that the Tourist Development Authority hasn’t taken proper action on these issues, since hotels like this can damage the image of Sri Lanka tourism. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in Sri Lanka. I strongly don’t recommend it to anyone planning a visit.
