Shangri-La Colombo

The location makes it easy to get to Colombo's attractions, shopping malls, and business districts, and the hotel suits business travelers as well as tourists looking for comfort and sophistication. The pool is peaceful despite being in the city, and the fitness center is well equipped. Staff were professional and courteous, always attentive without getting in the way. The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished, with stunning views of the Indian Ocean or city skyline. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and premium bathroom amenities added to the luxurious feel. Dining is another highlight, with several high-quality restaurants serving international and Asian cuisine. Breakfast felt like a grand spread, with fresh fruit, pastries, hot dishes, and local specialties. Elegant design and world-class service made for a luxurious stay from check-in to departure.

The evening buffet has even more hot dishes, and I'd recommend trying it. Breakfast was excellent too, with options ranging from pastries to sushi, plus cooks who'll make eggs the way you like, pancakes, and plenty more. The rooms feel luxurious, with contemporary art and a local yet modern design. Check-in went smoothly, and we enjoyed the staff's casual chats and tips. The doormen welcomed us on arrival and carried our luggage. Shang-Ri La Colombo has reset what I expect from a five-star hotel, and it makes a great first or last stop for a trip to Sri Lanka.

The sea and port city views from our luxurious rooms were amazing. We stayed at Shangrila-la hotel on 8th and 12th January 2026, with four rooms, and check-in was quick and smooth. The club lounge team were professional and always helpful. We especially enjoyed the breakfast buffet, with so much tasty food, and your Yara Tea. The pool and steam room were awesome, too. The lobby bar was a relaxing spot for tea and a tasty piece of cake. We had a lovely stay and want to thank Julian, Front Office Manger, Restaurant manage Maki, and Tharaka at the executive lounge for their great hospitality.

It's a beautiful hotel with top notch service, excellent restaurant food, and superb amenities. Being connected to a huge mall is handy, and it feels safe and secure. The rooms are very nice, though they're starting to look a bit dated now that the hotel is about 10 years old and popular. The high traffic is noticeable. Still, there's nowhere better to stay when visiting Colombo.
