It was quiet here, far enough from the noisy city, and I had a great three days. Tharaka was an excellent host who took care of everything and made it stress free. He showed me around Dambulla and Sigiriya, taking me to lots of tourist attractions and even some local spots tourists don't often visit. He also drove me to my next destination and showed me more amazing places along the way.

The family are nice, and they offer cooking classes and taxi service. But the room was a big disappointment. It smelled strongly of mold and the walls were wet, so they should check whether a pipe is leaking inside them. The pillows were full of mold, and I don't think people should be sleeping there. They should probably check the mattress too. Such a shame, they could lose guests this way. I also had to ask for linen. There was no hot water, even though the photos show it, no soap, and WiFi barely worked. There wasn't even a trash can, so I guess rubbish has to go on the floor. Sandra restaurant around the corner has good meals for around a 1000,-

The family were so kind and showed us how to make traditional food. It was a lovely experience. I loved the atmosphere, and the room was clean with a very comfy bed. I'd definitely suggest staying there.

The homestay is about 1 km from Dambulla temple, in a quiet spot away from city noise. Our room was roomy, with towels, hot water, a little terrace, and access to the family’s fridge if we needed it. Breakfast was tasty and local, too. What made the place for me was the lovely young couple and their little daughter. They were kind and helped us with everything. He drives a TukTuk, so you can get transport for a good price, and he can also guide you. I’d recommend staying with this friendly local family.

The bed was comfortable, the hosts were kind, and breakfast was good, with coconut rotis and onion, garlic, and pepper gravy. We had a lovely stay at Tharaka and Lakmali's place, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Dambulla.
