Seeing the Northern Lights was unforgettable. They were especially strong on one night, moving across the sky for hours; on the other night they were less vivid but still spectacular. Snow-covered trees made the whole scene feel otherworldly. An astronomer from the area also gave our group a really well-done presentation, and the stars were stunning under that clear, dark sky. That astronomy session was an added bonus, since it isn’t part of every holiday. I started 2025 with a wonderful trip to #AuroraHolidays in Utsjoki, Finland. The cabins were cozy and comfortable, each with a private sauna, and I was lucky to have one facing the river, so I woke up to a lovely view every morning. Food was delicious, with vegan options each night for our omnivores and vegans. Aurora Holidays is certified as a gluten free facility, and the owners work hard to make sure dietary needs don’t get in the way of travel. The group was small, usually no more than 16 people, which gave us time to get to know each other. We toured the local village, visited Vestre Jakobselv in Norway with the option of a dip in the Arctic Ocean, and went snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and dog sledding. Our guides were fantastic. Even though they’ve done these activities many times, they made them feel new and exciting for each of us. I’d definitely put @Aurora Holidays on your must-see list!
