Island Hostels

The ocean view from the roof is amazing, and the beach is just a short walk away. For the location, the price is great. Staff were consistently helpful and kept looking for ways to improve guests’ experience. The beds were good and the bathrooms stayed clean. The AC gets cold if you leave it running. I’d definitely recommend Island Hostel whether you’re passing through or staying longer.

I’ve been here twice, and the roof with its jacuzzi or mini pool is one of the highlights. It’s a good value, with free WiFi, breakfast, and tea and coffee available all day. The rooms and beds are comfortable, and the staff are friendly and very helpful. The capsule could use a privacy curtain, though. The location is the best thing about the place. The airport is far away, but that’s true of most places unless you stay in negembo. My first visit was busy and full of energy; the next was early in the season, so there were fewer people.

The men’s bathroom on my floor smelled strongly of rotten fish, so the pipes may need a thorough cleaning. The rest of the place was very clean, with nice sleeping quarters, AC, and friendly, helpful staff around the clock. It’s also close to a supermarket. A lock for the lockers would be a good addition.

For a low-budget stay, this place offers very cheap prices and good service. The rooms and washrooms are clean, there’s free WiFi, and the kitchen has a refrigerator. The rooftop area has a pool and a great view outside. I’d recommend it to both locals and foreigners. I hope they add some food choices for guests, maybe a mini restaurant.
