The room was well equipped for the price, and the menu was a nice surprise, reasonably priced like local eateries. There’s also a refrigerator with beer at reception, which fits the relaxed beachside feel. I especially liked the two chilled-out dogs lounging there. The staff were warm, attentive, and ready to help. Check-in had a small hiccup because my room wasn’t ready and the washroom seemed hurriedly cleaned. I’d arrived about 30 minutes before the time I’d told them, and once I mentioned it, they fixed things quickly and professionally. It’s a charming little place by the beach with a relaxed, positive atmosphere. A peaceful, affordable, welcoming place to unwind, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

The people here looked after me through some pretty stressful moments. After I scraped my leg and got cellulitis, Sam and Steph suggested seeing their uncle, who’s a doctor. He prescribed heavy duty Penicillins. Steph, a qualified I.C.U. Nurse from Wales, took me by TUK TUK to the Pharmacy, bought the dressings and drugs, and nursed the infected areas for weeks until I recovered. They’d also helped when I damaged my phone a few days into the stay, arranging repairs so I could use online Banking and stuff. After going to Malaysia, I came back to Mount Bay for 30 days, then extended another 7 weeks before returning to U.K. in April 2026. It was a real privilege to stay there and meet you both and the staff. I’ve been to Mount Lavinia 25 times and spent well over 2 years of my life there, staying in lots of Guesthouses. This place ticks all the boxes and more. I’m planning another trip around this Xmas/New Year. I know Sam likes Amberleaf Tobacco and Steph likes Cheddar Cheese, which isn’t available in Sri Lanka, so I’ll bring those for the top of the VIP list.

The breakfast was a favorite, and the service guys were super friendly. It’s a great spot around Mt.Lavinia, close to the beach, train, and centre. An ATM is just a few minutes’ walk away, and there’s a restaurant and rooftop bar.

We had a great celebration get-together here. The warm surroundings made it easy to relax and catch up, and the place had just the right atmosphere for spending time together. The staff and crew were friendly and attentive, and handled everything with care. Food and drinks were delicious, full of flavour, and nicely presented. A memorable dining experience, and I’d recommend it for a small party or get-together.

The food was really excellent, and the guys at the Guest House were so kind to us. Harish and Shean were especially helpful and hospitable. Really comfortable place. If I come back to the area, I’ll definitely stay again. Absolutely recommended!
