I came here mainly as a base for visiting the Sinharaja Nature Reserve, and they arranged that for me. There’s a restaurant on site where you can try different local dishes, and you’re surrounded by nature, which makes it a great fit for nature lovers. I spent three nights at the Rural Jungle Backpackers Hostel during low season and was the only guest, but still had a really good time. The owner was very hospitable. Highly recommend!

The food was good, but the beds are very short. If you’re over 1.8 m tall, I wouldn’t stay here.

I’d definitely recommend it, 10/10. It’s a cute, pleasant place with a nice little garden at the front, and you get your own bungalow with a bathroom. The hosts are lovely and make sure you have a good stay. I’ll come back next time I’m in deniyaya.

They also have their own bakery. The rooms are clean and have attached bathrooms, which is why I gave four stars. The bathroom drainage needs improvement, and the entrance isn’t very pleasant.
