Sinharaja Rest

The people working here were incredibly sweet and kind, always attentive and ready to help. The host arranged everything we needed for our two-night stay, including airport transport, Sinharaja rainforest tours, dinners and water. The food was amazing, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The evening fireflies were beautiful, and the room matched the pictures. Since you’re surrounded by nature, you should be comfortable with the occasional spider or gecko sharing the room. Dinner costs 1,900 lkr, but it was freshly cooked and so tasty that it was absolutely worth it. Breakfast was very good and plentiful too. The owner was extremely kind and accommodating, helped us organize trails, and gave us detailed information and recommendations for our onward travel. For jungle trails, try booking with Kumar. Other reviews compare him to a Sri Lankan David Attenborough, and that feels spot on. He’s an absolute gem, and the experience with him was worth the stay on its own.

Sinharaja Rest arranged a guided tour of the nearby National Park and provided us with a lunch box. The place is quiet, surrounded by nature and close to the park entrance. We had a lovely stay, with delicious breakfast and dinner, and staff who were happy to accommodate our requests. I’d recommend it if you enjoy peace and good service.

We booked the Deluxe Room for three days and loved its amazing view. The room is designed to blend into nature, with rocks worked into the walls. There’s also a lovely ecosystem around the rooms, with a walkway through it, and the dining area is full of beautiful trees with lots of roots. The place was very clean and the food was amazing. The owner and staff were helpful, even arranging tuk-tuk rides to nearby viewpoints. I’d highly recommend it.
