Princess of Dickoya

The family and their beautiful home made this our most memorable stay in Sri Lanka. We had such a lovely time, and they even let us join them in the kitchen to learn traditional Sri Lankan cooking. The tea fields behind the house are lovely to explore. It’s also a great place to stay before or after hiking Adam’s Peak. We’ll be back. Already missing the people who felt like our Sri Lankan family! ❤️

We felt so welcomed by the family who run this hotel. The room is large, with a roomy balcony and stunning mountain views. Breakfast, made by the family with fresh ingredients, was yummy, and lunch and dinner were exceptionally delicious. There’s a boiler in the bathroom and the water flow is good. The beds have mosquito nets, so we could leave the balcony open at night without getting bitten. Hiking paths through tea plantations to the lake are nearby. They also offered us a ride from the train station. The owners suggested a knowledgeable, friendly tuk tuk driver who showed us sweet spots nearby and could take us to other cities. It ended up feeling like a proper tour. A lovely way to enjoy Sri Lanka’s natural beauty and local hospitality.

The room felt nearly new and was very comfortable. It got a little chilly at night since there’s no AC or heating, but the blankets kept us warm and we slept well. We had tasty dinners on the terrace both nights, and the hosts made us feel very welcome. Really recommend this place!

The new family suite has lots of space and incredible panoramic views over the tea country. My group was lucky to be among its first guests. Wifi was also the fastest we’d come across in Sri Lanka so far. Samman and his wife are generous, welcoming hosts who know the area and Pekoe trail really well. Princess of Dickoya is a tremendous homestay, and if you’re in the area, don’t miss staying here. Thanks again for the hospitality.
