Nimal's Superior Sweet Apartment

Nimal and his wife made us feel at home from the moment we arrived, welcoming us with drinks and then surprising us with bananas, coffee, tea and a little snack in the morning. Breakfast wasn’t included, so that was especially thoughtful. They were so kind and did everything they could to make the stay a good one. The rooms are spacious, the air conditioning works well, and the whole place feels cosy and homey. Couldn’t have asked for better hosts. Highly recommend if you’re visiting the area!

The breakfast was a huge, delicious feast, especially the sweet coconut pancakes, and it was really cheap for so much freshly made food. Nimal and his wife were so generous throughout our stay. They welcomed us with tea, upgraded our room for our honeymoon, and gave us tips on nearby places to visit. We could walk to Dikwella beach, which was clean, quieter than Hiriketiya beach, and had good restaurants. Turtle beach was also walkable, and the accommodation lent us snorkeling gear for free so we could swim with the turtles. At the end, Nimal arranged a driver to our next accommodation, and they sent us off with a delicious fruit smoothie at no extra charge. A lovely stay with such kind hosts, thank you!

Our room was spotless and just right for our stay, and the hosts even let us check in early. They were also helpful with laundry and arranging our onward trip. It’s a lovely homestay run by a welcoming local family, on a quiet side street about a 3-minute walk from the beach. Nights were peaceful too. We’d happily stay at Nimal’s House again if we’re in the area, and highly recommend it.

The location was great, close to the beach and nice restaurants, and quiet at night. The room was comfortable and had air-con. The hosts were lovely and accommodating, even making us lunch with the fish we’d caught that morning. We stayed at Nimal’s House for two nights and loved it. It was my favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka. I’d recommend it to anyone.
