Hotel Olinka

The room was comfortable and clean, and the owner was friendly and helpful. At this price, it felt well worth it. I missed having a few things like cups, glasses, and a writing table, though. There was no fan, but with the cool weather, that was fine. I was in Haputale for work and stayed one night at Olinka Hotel. It’s right beside the Haputale-Bandarawela road, with lovely views of the mountains and railway. The balcony was a great spot to take them in. I’d stay here again for a short visit.

The place is clean and the service was lovely. I had the coconut roti with chili paste and wow, it tasted so good. I recommend it.

The balcony was especially lovely around sunrise, sunset, and twilight, with beautiful mountain views. We were also delighted by the tea plantations and the train passing by, which made for some amazing photos. We spent two nights here in two rooms with our three teenage children, and were happy with everything. The hotel was clean, and the owner was very helpful and offered assistance with anything we needed. It’s outside the village center but right on the main road, which suited us because we like using local buses. Buses in both directions stop right outside, including a direct one to Dambetenna Tea Factory. We took a tuk-tuk to Lipton’s Seat, had breakfast there, then walked down. We also stopped at nearby Kelliebedde Tea Factory for tea and cake.

The location was really beautiful, and our room was very clean. My husband and I were pleased with the hotel. There were lots of options, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The bed and pillows were comfortable too.
