Ella Green Cottages

We were welcomed warmly, and the room was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed. It’s a very peaceful and lovely place. We stayed one night, and if you don’t have a vehicle, you can get into the center of Hella by train.

The staff were really nice, and I liked my standard room with the garden view. There’s construction beside the cottage right now, so it was a little noisy, but I still loved my stay. Bring your own toiletries, like shampoo, body wash and face wash, and a pair of sandals, since they don’t provide those.

The two men serving breakfast and helping with bookings were great, friendly and hardworking. The views of the jungle were nice, and the location has its quirks, but it’s at the top of a steep slope with lots of steps down to the room. The Mountain Room smelled musty and damp when we arrived, so we needed incense sticks. The bed was very comfortable, though the shower room and towels were below standard. We paid about $40 a night, including a very large breakfast, but the room quality didn’t justify the price. It might suit fit, able travelers coming to Ella to hike, but I thought it was about $10 too expensive.

The staff were kind and really flexible, and the breakfast was both delicious and generous. We had clean accommodation, nice views into the trees where we could see monkeys, and a good location. Tip: the train tracks make a shortcut into town, about a five-minute walk.
