The shortcut to the restaurants and shops isn't shown on maps, but it takes you straight into the heart of Ella. Even in such a handy spot, the homestay felt peaceful. Janith also arranged a driver for several onward journeys. He and his family made us feel so looked after throughout our stay, and he was our favorite host during our month in Sri Lanka. The room was clean and had everything we needed. We loved the vegan breakfast with those breathtaking views, easily the best breakfast of our trip. 10/10.

Ella can feel crowded and busy, but staying here made it easy to forget we were in a popular town. The host really went out of his way for us, and breakfast was the best we've had in Sri Lanka. The view was stunning too!

We'd planned to stay with Janith, the owner of cozy homestay, but the cyclone left us stuck in Nuwara Eliya for several days. Even though our booking explicitly couldn't be cancelled, Janith waived the charge. He kept in touch the whole time to check we were safe, showing such kindness during a very difficult time for people in Sri Lanka. If we make it to Ella in the future, we'd be glad to stay with him.

The family were so kind and welcoming, and the rooms were lovely and spotless. Cozy Homestay in Ella gave us generous, delicious breakfasts, easily the best of our trip in Sri Lanka. This was probably our favorite stay overall.

Janith was so kind and arranged a tuk tuk to the train station for our last day. The homestay is a five-minute walk from town, and breakfast is served on a peaceful balcony overlooking amazing views of Ella. We could choose between Sri Lankan and Western dishes. The room was modern and so beautifully decorated, the nicest one we stayed in on our whole trip in Sri Lanka. I had the most wonderful two-night stay here with my boyfriend. Highly recommend!
