This lovely little place is a bit away from Ella town, down the hill, with a beautiful rainforest view. We could watch little monkeys in the nearby trees while having breakfast on the spacious balcony outside our room. The family running it were so friendly and helpful, which made our stay even nicer. Their son was especially willing to help with anything. He took us to the local tea factory and even watched our sleeping toddler while we went on the tour.

Humidity was the main issue in our poor-condition room. The bedding felt wet and moldy, and we were afraid to sleep in it. There was barely any room, and the bathroom was old and neglected. Only one socket worked for us because the others were a different type and we had no adapters. We didn't get a drop of warm water. We spent two weeks in Sri Lanka across six hotels, and this was definitely the worst.

The only positive was a helpful, responsive host, but they couldn't fix any of the problems. It was so humid that the bedding felt wet, and the linen was dirty too, as shown in the pictures. We found cockroaches, ants and leeches in the room. The final straw was having no warm water.

We were in the middle of the jungle, with animals to watch from the balcony. The rooms were clean, the breakfasts tasty, and the hosts kind and wonderful.

The balcony gave us a great chance to spot wildlife, including monkeys and white-tail deer, and the higher elevation made things a bit cooler. The rooms were clean, there was hot water, and breakfast was good each morning. It’s about 2.5 km from town, though getting a taxi was easy. We’d stayed in lots of places around Sri Lanka, with mixed results, but the host here took great care of us.
