Ella Tunnel Corner Inn

We woke up to the cool Ella breeze and beautiful surroundings, and the food was freshly made and delicious. The hosts were friendly, kind, and always willing to help, so we felt at home. Our room was spotless and comfortable, with a lovely view of the mountains and railway line. It’s peaceful and scenic, yet close to Ella’s main attractions. I’d happily come back for another relaxing stay.

We were happy with our stay in the garden room, which was set back from the road. It had plenty of space, a small terrace, and three beds for the three of us. The owners were helpful and kind. We had breakfast there, got a picnic to take on our hike, and used their very good laundry service.

The property is old, and it’s clearly described as not being a luxury hotel, but the room was decent for the price and the location is right in the main town. The couple running it were wonderfully hospitable. Uncle knows Ella inside out and arranged for me to join the Christmas tuk-tuk rally promoting Ella tourism, with a free day tour and food. Aunty was just as kind and offered me food too, though I declined because rice in the morning is hard for me to digest. They also helped with places to see and bus details, and advised me how to avoid spending unnecessarily on taxis.

We were six people sharing one room for two nights. It was cozy and just large enough for sleeping, and for what we paid, it was well worth it. The staff were really friendly and quick to help whenever we needed something. The main road is less than five minutes away, and the railway station is just around the corner.
