Nine Arch lodge Ella

Getting to the arches was easy, just a 5-10 minute walk from our room, and the view of the railway tracks and iconic arches was amazing. The homestay felt cozy, the service was terrific, and the pineapple and papaya shake at breakfast was delicious. They even gave us a short tuk-tuk ride to the main road for free since cars can't drive up to the premise. One small thing to know, there's no shampoo provided.

The hosts were really nice, and the Bridge was only a five-minute walk. Breakfast was simple but really tasty, with as much coffee as you wanted. Having breakfast with that view over the Ella was maybe the best view I've ever had for breakfast.

Shaan, one of the employees, was the best, so helpful and kind and able to arrange everything for us. The hotel was super clean and comfortable, with amazing views. Breakfasts were really nice too, enough to keep you full all day. Thanks for making our stay so comfortable!

The bathroom was really dirty and damp, and the whole stay left us feeling awful. We asked the host about buses to Galle and were told there wasn't a direct bus. Later, in town, we found the bus information and checked with the police, who said there were plenty of buses. When we came back and asked again, the host claimed there were no seats for tourists. We understand making a living can be hard, but the dishonesty and attitude were unacceptable. We should have been given the truth and the choice, instead of being misled so the host could make money from us. I've traveled a lot and never had such a bad hotel experience. I can't recommend staying here, especially for the price. If you're after the Nine Arch view, there are better options nearby. The road and bus information made for a very unpleasant night in Ella.
