Onrock Boutique Hotel

The view from Onrock, Ella was a real highlight, with Ravana falls and Little adam's peak in a peaceful setting. Try to catch the sunrise while you’re there. They serve a good range of cuisines, with something for everyone, and the food was outstanding. Prices were good, and parking was available. The facilities and service were excellent too. Special thanks to Kavindn for the great help and service at check-in. Definitely recommend it.

We stayed for three nights in March 2026 and would happily come back. The hotel sits up a steep hill, but the walk isn’t too long and is quite manageable. Walk down and you’re on Ella’s high Street. The view was amazing, and we loved the rooftop pool. Supan, the pool boy, took great care of us, bringing ice and drinks and shifting the tables and chairs so we could enjoy the view out of the sun. It took us a little while to get used to the food, but our waiter Madhan was wonderful and looked after us really well.

The staff were the highlight of our one-night stay, and the hotel was clean with great food. If you’re doing Stage 15 of the Pekoe Trail, it ends right beside the hotel, so from the railway station you can finish the trek and walk straight back. They also arranged taxis to the start of the stage and packed breakfast for us, ready for our 5:30 a.m. departure.

Sameera & Madhan made us feel so welcome in the restaurant, and the Sri Lankan traditional dishes were delicious. The menu was so tempting and the service so good that we ate there even with plenty of cafes just a short walk away. The staff also surprised us with a cake for our marriage anniversary, which made us feel special. We stayed at Hotel Onrock for two nights and had a wonderful time. We arrived late in the evening to a warm welcome at reception, with towels and fruit juice, then quickly checked in. Our room had a great view, with town and hills on one side and little adams peak on the other. Traveling with our child, we cared a lot about safety, good staff, and a good restaurant, and all three were top notch. Our kid ran around the lobby, and the staff were kind and courteous, looking after him and playing with him. I highly recommend Hotel Onrock for a visit to Ella and its hospitality.
