Secret Nest Homestay

Neranji’s Cooking Class was the highlight. She explains the process so well, gets you involved in preparing the food, and her knife skills are amazing to watch. We stayed seven nights at the start of the wet season, and Neranji and her husband gave us so much of their time and looked after us generously. Breakfast was delicious, filling, and varied. The room was a good size and had a fan, and the terrace was a comfortable place to sit and eat. Wi-Fi was great too. The location worked well for visiting the 9 Arch Bridge and Little Adam’s Peak, while keeping us away from the town centre’s nighttime noise. They arranged a scooter for us, and we had a wonderful day at Diyaluma Falls. The service was excellent, and they were thoughtful about our needs throughout. I’d wholeheartedly recommend this caring family’s homestay and wish them plenty of future bookings. They deserve it for the way they look after guests.

We had such a lovely time cooking traditional rice and curry with Neranji. She talked us through the ingredients and Sri Lankan spices, and the meal turned out suuuper yummy. We started with homemade tea made with homegrown cinnamon. It was a warm, welcoming space. Thank you so much.

We learned so much about Sri Lankan cooking in just two hours, and the food was superb. The host was super friendly and took time to explain the spices and ingredients. A fantastic cooking class in Ella, I highly recommend it.

Neranji gave us a real Sri Lankan welcome, and the breakfast was delicious, traditional, and suited to what we liked. It’s within walking distance of everything, but away from the busy bustle. I’d recommend staying here if you’re visiting Ella, and be sure to try her cooking class too.
