Centauria Lake Resort

At a wedding I attended here recently, the food and venue seemed fine. But I heard several guests and members of the organizing family complain about how the hotel management treated them. The main disagreements involved strict schedules for serving drinks and setting up tables. Many invitees didn’t come, and when the hosts asked to take the leftover food plates, the hotel refused.

The complimentary kayaks were a lovely way to get out on the water, and the team treated us warmly. Our room was beautiful, too. Best of all, the balcony looked out over the lake, and the quiet made it easy to switch off and recharge. We’ve just come back from Centuria Lake Hotel and already miss the peace. Five stars, highly recommend for a luxury nature getaway. ✨

We stayed for two nights and found the room comfortable, with good food and a buffet that had plenty of variety and quality. The restaurant staff looked after us well, especially Mr.Galagedara, whose hospitality deserves a special thank you. Chandrika Lake made for a lovely view, and the place was generally good. I’d recommend it, though the Wi-Fi is limited.

The lake setting is beautiful, with a view from nearly every room, and we’ve come here every January for years. But after the manager appointed at the end of 2025 took over, our experience went downhill. The previous manager wasn’t very sociable, but was excellent at hospitality and would handle whatever we asked. The current manager is more charismatic, yet neither he nor the staff followed through even after repeated requests. Our group stays for at least 10 days each year, but we got subpar service and even worse food. The chef can cook wonderfully, but for some reason only did so when other guests were there, not for our group. When we asked the manager to improve things, he wouldn’t cooperate. We’ll choose another resort next year.
