The Fort Printers

We couldn’t get a room at the last minute because the place was fully booked, but we still had one of our best evenings in Galle here. We dropped in spontaneously for drinks and dinner, and the food was excellent, carefully made, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The thoughtful, stylish interior is a dream for anyone who loves design. The hospitality was what really stayed with us. Pasan, the team, and the manager on duty were kind, welcoming, and keen to find a solution. They even kept in touch afterward in case a room opened up, though sadly that didn’t happen. Thanks for such a lovely experience. When we’re back in Galle, this will be at the top of our list, and hopefully we’ll get to stay next time.

The location in the center of the fort made it easy to walk everywhere, and the staff looked after us so well. They were helpful and accommodating, and seemed to have thought of everything. We spent four luxurious days at Fort Printers and only wished we could stay longer. The fit out is exquisite, the bed was comfy, and the food was so yummy. The cocktails were even better, and the coffee was delicious too, which is high praise from two Melburnians. Can’t wait to return!

Breakfast was nice, and the hotel is an old place with a lot of history, but it wasn’t really my cup of tea. We had the highest ranked room, yet there was no toilet roll holder. They’d left used rolls from guests who had checked out behind the toilet, which felt very average. There wasn’t any coffee in the room either. By the pool there were only two loungers. I sat there for two hours and no one asked if I wanted a drink. I also had to ask twice for pool towels while six staff were standing around. The staff were nice, but there seemed to be a lot of loitering.

I had a small accident during our one-night stay at Fort Printers Hotel in Galle, and the team immediately took care of things. They arranged a ride to the hospital, made all the necessary calls, and came with me to make sure it went smoothly. I really appreciated that level of care, which went well beyond what I’d expect from a hotel. We absolutely loved our stay. The staff were incredibly friendly, the food was excellent, and the interior design was stunning. If you want a beautiful boutique hotel with exceptional service in Galle, this is the place.
