We chose to stay in the suburbs for four weeks, about a 20-minute walk from the Fort area. It was comfortable, with plenty of room and privacy. The hosts are gracious and kind, and the food was five star, unequaled by the best hotels. If you want to get to know the neighborhood, sample local culture and food, and see people going about their daily lives, this is a great way to stay in Galle. You meet the neighbors, too. Thoroughly recommend it.

We were greeted very warmly, but as we moved around the hotel, we felt watched and controlled. On the second night, 450 euros in cash went missing from our room. We'd been out all day and hadn't gone back to the room ourselves. When we returned that evening, our belongings had been moved around, as if someone had searched through them. We called the police for support. The owners said nobody else had been in the house and there was no other room key. We filed a police report and our belongings were checked in front of the owners, but we didn't see the owners or hotel rooms being checked. The owner told us and the police that he was afraid we would leave without paying, even though we had planned to stay one more night. We never got the money back. Keep cash and valuables with you.

We felt at home here. The hosts are very friendly, the rooms are simple but quite enough, and there's a big shared area and kitchen. Great Wi-Fi, too. Every morning brought a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast with some variety. You can also ask about laundry, dinner, or a ride wherever you need to go.

The owners made the stay, and even walked us to the bus. Breakfast was amazing, and it's a beautiful homestay in a nice location. Can't recommend it enough.
