DO NOT RECOMMEND. The staff are fantastic, and the hotel is clean and pretty, but what you get doesn’t match the price at all. We paid five-star prices and felt the value was badly out of balance. It isn’t in the Fort, the electricity kept tripping in our room, there were bugs in my bed on the first night, and the AC didn’t work, so we had to change rooms. It might be a good place at half the price. I’m sure you can find much better value elsewhere for the same money. The day after I posted this while still at the hotel, two people approached us, including someone who said they were the owner, and asked us twice to take the review down. The complimentary breakfast they mention in their reply was withdrawn for our last day because we didn’t agree. To me, that just reinforces the poor value for the money and shows they don’t know hospitality. They also asked lots of people to post positive reviews in the hours after mine went up.

The room we got was lovely, which was the best part of the stay. The hotel’s services don’t justify a five-star price, and it felt overpriced. We had no hot water, the sinks clogged and needed someone to fix them, and we had to ask for water to be provided. It was uncomfortable that there was no staff at all at night if you needed help. The restaurant is across the street, and there’s no in-room service.

We stayed for six nights and can highly recommend this stunning hotel. The room was incredible, the design beautiful, and the place felt wonderfully private. The staff were lovely too. It’s a peaceful location close to the beach and major attractions, away from the Fort’s bustle. We usually took a tuk tuk to the Fort, though we walked there once and it was perfectly manageable.

The building’s architecture was one of my favorite things, and the hotel cat is the cutest 💗 The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff friendly, and breakfast was well worth including with the stay. There’s a beach club opposite with free beds for guests staying in house. Such an amazing place and worth it. I’ll only come back here.

The seafood was really fresh, and everything we ordered tasted so good. Kasun was especially warm and attentive, which made the visit even nicer. We had a lovely time at Taavetti Restaurant. Definitely recommend it if you’re into fresh seafood!
