I checked out of Wirdana Resort & Spa within five minutes of arriving because I felt the place was unsafe. I had booked expecting the stay described in the listing, but the bathroom and toilet were completely open, with no doors or privacy, despite the claim of a “private bathroom.” That didn't seem acceptable for a family. There were no other guests, just three unidentified people without uniforms or any professional setup. The property felt isolated, and stray dogs wandered through the lobby, hallways, and near the rooms. I felt too uncomfortable and intimidated to keep my family there, even briefly. We left immediately, cancelled all our plans in Galle, and hurried to Colombo to make sure we were safe. Before we arrived, the property had messaged me on WhatsApp asking me to pay through an external link, saying they couldn't take payment via Booking.com. That raised serious concerns for me. They first gave us only a handwritten confirmation, followed later by a very basic invoice with few details. This was one of the worst and most unsafe hotel experiences I've had. I found the property misleading and unprofessional, and felt it fell short of basic hospitality and safety standards. I'd strongly advise others, especially families, to avoid it.

Lahiru makes excellent Indian chai, which is well worth trying. He's one of the dedicated staff members who takes good care of guests and helps make their stay comfortable and pleasant. The nature resort and spa is surrounded by beautiful scenery, and the staff are very friendly.

We were 20 people staying for one night in three full-board units. The staff were friendly and helped where they could, but several parts of the stay need serious improvement. The rooms were a 0/5 for me, and I'd rate them lower if I could. The beds and sofas were extremely low and uncomfortable. I couldn't find a single piece of furniture I could sit on for more than 15 minutes. If you have back problems, avoid this place at all costs. Even brushing your teeth was painful because the sinks are so low. The food was 1/5. The quality needs significant improvement, even if that means raising the price. For the shower, I'd give 2/5. It sort of worked, but there was no hot water, only barely lukewarm. The shower area was an open-roof extension of the toilet, and I didn't like the leaves and dust. There was no detachable shower head to rinse the area before or after using it. Getting there was 1/5. The connecting road from Galle Road is very narrow and uneven, so be careful if you have a low car, as it might scrape underneath. The Galle Exit is simpler and more convenient than Baddegama. Parking was 4/5, with plenty of space, but watch out for coconut trees that could crush your car. Near the entrance there's also a circular thing, so keep left or risk saying goodbye to your front bumper.

We stayed at Wirdana Resort a month ago and found it calm and peaceful, a nice place to unwind away from crowds and city life. The staff were generous and kind, and made us feel welcome. Our suite was spacious and worked well for kids. The owner was kind and chatted with us in a friendly way. We also appreciated the flexibility around check-in and check-out, with no unnecessary fuss. It was an amazing stay.
