Rucki and Nilu were wonderful hosts who made us feel at home straight away. They shared lots about the culture and helped with our journey. After Rucki collected us from the railway station, we settled into their lovely place with its small garden. We rented their scooter and visited the waterfalls they recommended. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. We’re glad our friends suggested the guesthouse, and we’d recommend it to anyone looking for a family-like atmosphere.

I had a wonderful three days at Ruki and Nilus place. The breakfast that came with the stay was the best I’ve ever had, and dinner was probably the best food of my whole trip too, though a bit expensive, it was 100% worth the price. They were so kind and welcoming, and took me from the bus station and back to the train station when I left. My room was clean, the bed extremely comfortable, and tea plantations were just a two-minute walk away. I highly recommend this homestay!

I loved staying here, it was one of my favorite places on my trip through Sri Lanka. The garden has a private spot to relax, and my room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable. The whole family is lovely, the portions are big, and the food was very good. They also helped with laundry. Nilu was especially helpful throughout my stay, and I loved chatting with her. Rucki drove me around the countryside near Hatton, which was amazing, and they picked me up from and returned me to the railway station at the start and end of my stay. I’d absolutely stay again. Hatton makes a great base for visiting the area around Adam’s Peak. It’s a small local town that doesn’t feel touristy, with beautiful scenery, tea fields, waterfalls, rice paddies, mountain views, Tamil villages, and temples. It felt much more authentic than staying in Ella, and I’d recommend stopping in Hatton on the way to Kandy or Ella.

The room was clean and had everything we needed, and the family were incredibly welcoming. They helped us find a long-lost relative in a cemetery outside Hatton, at a beautiful church and location. Nilu even picked flowers from her lovely garden for us to leave on the grave. Their puppy was adorable and cuddly too. Highly recommend staying here :)
