We went twice, once for lunch and again for breakfast, and both times the portions were absolutely huge. The staff were attentive and made sure we had enough, even topping up the bowls of curry. The food was yummy and amazing value. The kitchen was open and clean, and they were happy to offer vegan curry options. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the station.

The wait was reasonable, and the food was tasty. There’s a wide choice of dishes, mostly European cuisine, and the friendly staff and pleasant, well-lit atmosphere with antique ornaments made for a nice visit. The restaurant is high end and a little pricey, but definitely worth the money. Its building beside Hatton railway station has historic value: it was the first branch of Hatton bank, now Hatton national bank, established by English tea farmers. Reasonable accommodation is available here as well.

It’s a really nice place to have a chat over coffee, with a well-planned setting that fits the railway theme right down to the captain’s railway uniform. Parking isn’t adequate during rush hour, though, and I’d give it five stars if there were enough spaces. This is a very vintage-style hotel with a restaurant. The food is a bit expensive, but reasonable for the quality. They serve English food as well as local dishes.

I loved exploring the museum and the lovely quotes in this restaurant. We’d only been in Sri Lanka a few days and were still amazed at how cheap everything was. The curry and rice were great. The sizzling chicken was overcooked and less enjoyable, so I’d stick with what they do best, rice and curry. Come here before you set off to Dalhousie.

From the street it looks like an old fashioned building in Hatton, but inside we got a warm welcome from the restaurant/hotel staff. We’d wandered in without knowing about the place and just wanted lunch, but it really surprised us. The food was great, and it’s comfortable for hanging out or booking a room. This beautiful place is a renovation of the building where the country's first Hatton bank began. A must visit building in Hatton.
