Blue Sky Beach Resort

The location is genuinely lovely. You can hear the waves all day, and the view from the outer terrace is beautiful. The staff were kind and helpful too, and the welcome drinks were a thoughtful gesture. But the glass they served mine in was dirty, so I hesitated to finish it. Our room had a lot of problems. We booked a ground-floor room through an online app, but were first given something completely different from the description and photos. The bedding had a crusty stain and hair on it, the fridge was extremely dirty, and the cups were unclean. I needed the fridge for water and medication, but couldn't bring myself to use it. After we complained, we were moved to a first-floor room that was cleaner and better overall. Even there, the bed linens were dirty and had to be changed, which the staff did. The Wi-Fi was very poor, and road noise kept us from sleeping at night. I don't understand the 3-star rating or many of the positive reviews. The beachside location is the one thing I can't fault, but the rest needs serious improvement. In replies to other reviews, management says guests expect 5-star service from a 3-star hotel. We've stayed in 1-star hotels and simple guest inns with no stars, here in Sri Lanka, and they were much cleaner and better maintained. A 3-star rating should mean a higher standard, not a lower one. There's no value for money here, given the cleanliness problems, road noise, lack of facilities like a good restaurant or swimming pool, and the room we were given not matching what we booked. It should cost significantly less. Please improve the cleanliness of the rooms and facilities. That would make a huge difference, especially with such a lovely location and staff.

The staff were friendly and quick to help, and the whole stay had good vibes. A pleasant place to unwind over a weekend. Recommended for a getaway.

The only thing I liked was the backwater view, which is probably why this place gets any ratings. The rooms and amenities were terrible, and the management seemed least bothered about guest comfort. There was no proper service, and nobody seemed to care or be available to help. The washroom didn't have a proper shower or a dressing table. The air conditioner kept switching itself on and off all night, so sleeping was impossible. Honestly, this was the worst stay I've ever had. I'm not even sure it qualifies as a hotel. I'd give it zero stars if that were an option.

I've stayed there twice, and the staff were nice and friendly. They provide things without hesitation. Since it's right on the beach, you can have a smoke there even at midnight. Highly recommended.
