Mihira Gedara Apartments

Came back after three years and found the villa even more gorgeous, with a new terrace on the garden side and renovated facilities. It’s the best villa I’ve seen so far. It’s quiet and close enough to the beach, with a grocery store literally 50 meters away. Inside, it’s spacious, with a fully working kitchen and separate bedrooms, each with air conditioning and its own bathroom. The mattresses are decent too, which isn’t easy to find in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend staying here.

We didn’t want to leave, and neither did my three daughters. The accommodation was spotless, and the people looking after us were some of the nicest and most accommodating we’ve met. The breakfasts were so generous we spent nearly two hours eating and relaxing, and you can have whatever you want. The new property is finished to a very high standard, from the air conditioning, fans, and excellent showers to the roof terrace for sunbathing. The owner also has a corner shop where you can buy things and add them to your bill, at Sri Lankan prices rather than tourist prices. This was easily the best place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka, on Wijaya beach. There’s a natural lagoon with lots of fish and two large turtles that come and go. One is about 1.5 meters long. They’re comfortable swimming near people, often in around 50 centimeters of water. I’ll see if I can leave that video.

A lovely new villa near local shops, good restaurants, and the bus stop. The staff were attentive and friendly, the breakfast was very good, and our rooms had brand-new air conditioning and fans, good showers, and nice bathrooms. Highly recommended.

The hosts were so friendly and caring, and even helped us get fresh seafood. We loved having a proper kitchen to use and ended up staying in for the whole week. This was the best family place we found during our two months of travel. The standard felt higher than anywhere else we came across on the trip, right up to a high Western standard. Thank you so much!
