The shared balcony had a table, chairs and sofa, and the kitchen had the basics like a fridge, kettle, sink, dishes and cutlery. Our room was roomy, clean and comfortable, and the beach was only a short walk away. It was set back from the road enough that traffic didn't bother us. A few things could be better: our room was upstairs on the second floor, which was awkward with heavy bags, and there was nowhere to store clothes or luggage. Breakfast tea and coffee came without milk, which cost extra. The curtains also let in too much sunlight.

The family were so helpful and welcoming, and they have the sweetest dog. The rooms are in good shape, with reliable hot water, and one room has air conditioning. Mornings can be noisy from the railway and the musical bread truck, though the air-conditioned room is quieter. WiFi was better than at most places nearby, but I'd use 4G for work since the signal is good. I'd happily recommend staying here.

I had a great time staying in Unawatuna. The hosts were warm and helpful, and the spacious, comfortable room came with a really tasty breakfast. I also rented a motorbike from here to explore more of the coast. Would recommend it.

The beach, with turtles, is just a few minutes away on foot. We really enjoyed our stay at Near Beach Rest: the rooms were large and clean, and the hosts were lovely and very kind. Tammy local breakfast with eggs and fruit. Highly recommended!

We could park our tuktuk inside, which made us feel it was safer, and the beach is only steps away. The room was spacious and had AC, and the staff were nice. Breakfast was decent, though it could be a little better.
