Sea Change

We ended up having the most relaxing week in a special little place. Talpe train station is only a five-minute walk away, and the quiet beach right outside has rock pools and plenty of garden space for sunbathing. The people were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, huge, and varied, while the rooms and the rest of the place were spotlessly clean. A couple of nights we had food delivered and ate on the terrace watching the waves. Breakfast was delicious and came in very generous portions, and the place has a warm, homely feel. The hosts, Ayanthi and the caretaker Lakshman, were both very helpful. Our room was clean, with lovely bedding and a clean bathroom. There's parking, plus a sandy backyard by the ocean, with easy beach access at the end of the property. The reef and shallow pools are lovely, and Talpe beach is about 400 meters away. I'd definitely come again and recommend it to families.

Being able to message Ayanthi on WhatsApp whenever I needed something or had a special request made the stay feel personal and convenient. I had a peaceful, private two-night stay, and as a woman traveling alone, I felt completely safe and comfortable. The room was spacious and spotless, with a lovely view of Talpe Beach. Ayanthi was warm, welcoming, and made me feel at home. Breakfast was generous and varied, and one morning when I couldn't sit down to eat, they packed it for me to take away. I'll be back with family and friends next time.

The room was much more worn and poorly equipped than the photos suggested. Noise from other guests went on late, so I couldn't get a good night's sleep. For what it cost, the stay wasn't worth it, and I'm honestly surprised by the high ratings.
