Dinner was the highlight, with endless fresh prawns and tuna that melted in your mouth. The menu that night was cleverly put together, and Henrietta's chef training really showed. We also loved the carefully considered details, from the table settings to the fresh flowers in the bathroom. The whole place is beautiful and calming, and the staff were so smiley and lovely. Henrietta especially made us feel at home. After a few weeks in Sri Lanka, those home comforts, while still feeling like we were in Sri Lanka, were just what we needed. We spent two nights at Why House and highly recommend joining them for dinner. Thanks again, Henrietta and team. We hope to be back soon. Annie & Stefan

Henrietta and her team made us feel at home, and Henrietta was brilliant at recommending things to do and helping arrange them. We tried surfing and snorkelling, cycled through local villages, went on safari, watched cooking demonstrations, did yoga, and explored nearby Galle and its historic surroundings. Each activity added something special to the trip. The rooms were spacious, lovely to look at and very comfortable, with a mix of relaxed Sri Lankan charm and understated luxury. The peaceful gardens and beautiful pool made it easy to switch off. Meals were fresh, full of flavour and thoughtfully prepared, so eating at Why House became a daily highlight. It was a fantastic stay that exceeded our expectations. Why House gave us the chance to relax, enjoy great food and hospitality, and experience Sri Lanka. We'd return in a heartbeat and highly recommend it.

We stayed five nights with Henrietta and her team in January this year (2026), and were truly sorry to leave. The grounds feel like a beautiful oasis, with gorgeous plants and a huge pool. Aqua aerobics is offered three times a week, and it's great fun. There's also a gym and a small room for a relaxing massage, which costs £30. Henrietta is a wonderful host and makes a point of having a proper chat with everyone at breakfast and dinner. The dining area is lovely, and the food was sublime, among the best we had during our two-week holiday. If you're heading out early, the packed breakfast is excellent. I'd suggest staying at least three days to properly unwind. Why House would make a perfect start or end to a holiday. Thank you, Henrietta. Jo and Steve. Xx

The meals were consistently delicious, fresh and full of flavour, and Henrietta looked after us with real care. She took care of everything we asked for, made the stay feel effortless, and brought a fun, light touch to it. The peaceful, green setting and oasis-like pool gave Why House a quiet sense of luxury from the moment we arrived. The whole property felt warm, relaxed and welcoming. We left feeling refreshed and cared for after our March 2026 stay. For a quiet escape with lovely surroundings and attentive service, Why House is a perfect choice.

I especially loved all the orchids and ferns around the place. The gardens and swimming pool are beautiful, and the staff are exceptional. The whole atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I liked that there was no reception, but everything still happened as it should.
