The free tea when I arrived was a nice touch, and the owner was friendly. The beach is just ten steps away, with lovely quiet sand and good surfing. It’s about a ten-minute walk north to the busy area. The room was very basic for the price. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, and I’d put this one at no more than £12 a night, rather than £25. The food tasted good, but it was very expensive for what you got, and breakfast at 700 rupees felt overpriced too. I’d look elsewhere for meals, and the food should cost about half as much.

We loved how close it was to the beach. The room was simple, but had a lot of charm, and the owner was kind and helpful. There were lots of lovely artworks, artefacts, and furniture, and the owner has really good taste. I’d definitely recommend it.

This is our go-to place in Hikkaduwa. Hilmi, the owner, speaks good German, and the service deserves five stars. The place has a nice design and a grand aurora. The food was good, and breakfast was fresh and tasty.
