Sea Frame is right by the beach, but the property is poorly maintained. I was told the owners plan to demolish the buildings once their new hotel plans are approved. The four rooms in this rundown guesthouse are small, and the shared bathroom and kitchen were so dirty and gross that I couldn't use them. During high season, deep house music from nearby Mambos and Top Secret thumps through the units all night. Don't come expecting a quiet sleep to the sound of the waves. Two young brothers run the guesthouse, but a group of young local guys were often hanging around and smoking weed on the property. That's illegal and, to me, creates an unnecessary crime risk. If you're looking for contraband on the island, though, these guys have connections and can set you up. They helped me buy a motor scooter, but never transferred the title and eventually stole it back from me. I lost $2,000. Be warned. There are plenty of lovely places in Hikkaduwa, and Sea Frame is one you can do better than.
