The beachfront setting is gorgeous, and the rooms are comfortable, but the welcome and dining didn’t feel up to 4-star standards. We’d only consider returning if those parts improve. When we arrived, no one was at the entrance to greet us or show us where to go. We waited in the lobby until someone at the front desk noticed us. The welcome drink came as we were about to head to the room, almost as an afterthought. Our Triple Room was spacious and clean, though it only had amenities for two guests. The room was decent, but not especially impressive for a 4-star resort. Dining was the biggest disappointment. The buffet area was badly overcrowded, with cramped seating that made it seem management cared more about fitting in as many people as possible than guest comfort. There was surprisingly little food variety for a fully booked property, and the dessert choices were especially poor. The same few items were repeated at two or three stations. With a full house and plenty of space, that isn’t good enough.

The location made it easy to explore nearby attractions, and the relaxing atmosphere was a real plus. Staff were friendly and attentive, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the amenities were better than I expected. I really appreciated the care in the details. A comfortable, enjoyable stay, and I’d highly recommend the hotel.

The food at Amaya was on another level. We tried the hotels in Passikudah for lunch every day, and none came close to the quality and variety Master Chef Mohamed fiyaz puts together. I booked a family room for a full week with my one- and three-year-old kids, and the team was incredible with families and children. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly.

Amaya Beach Pasikudah has a lovely position on Pasikudah Bay, with shallow turquoise water just steps away. It’s a beautiful place for swimming or a quiet walk along the sand in the morning. The calm bay seems especially suited to kids, and the whole resort feels like a peaceful, high-end retreat for couples or families. We spent hours by the large outdoor pool, which sits between the hotel and beach, and had cocktails from the Aqua Bar. The rooms are spacious and modern, with private balconies overlooking either the gardens or the Indian Ocean. For a direct sea view and a bit more quiet, I’d ask for a room on a higher floor. We enjoyed the buffet at the Reef Restaurant, with a good range of Sri Lankan curries, fresh seafood, and international favourites. Seafood and sunset views from the poolside bar are worth looking out for. There’s also a world-class spa and water sports. The resort brings together comfort and natural beauty on one of Sri Lanka’s loveliest bays.

The ocean is right there, with beautiful views, and the location is hard to beat. Our room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and a nice balcony overlooking the beach. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and ready to help, and everything seemed thoughtfully arranged and well maintained. It made for a peaceful, scenic beachfront stay.
