Can’t wait to stay with Susantha and his crew again. We had a brilliant time and made great friends. It’s a lovely camp garden, decorated with shells, plants, and other natural touches, with good Wi-Fi that was sufficient for the people working remotely from there. Prices are affordable and good value, and you can pay by card or transfer. Susantha, Chami, Sudu, Deniskhe, and Juse are wonderful, friendly people and brilliant kiters. They can take complete beginners to confident riding in just a few days. We saw beginners progress to a downwinder in a little over a week. They also ride at a high level themselves, and can show you big air jumps and tricks. Susantha knows the area better than anyone. Depending on the wind, he takes you to the best spots, including an overnight trip to Vella Island and downwinders on the Puttalam lagoon. His mum cooks the best authentic Sri Lankan food, and we feasted on traditional dishes every day. There’s lots of laughter, jokes, good music, parties, and a real family feel. Ask the team and they’ll help arrange pretty much anything, from taxis and scooters to kite repairs and local trips. It’s the only camp run entirely by a Sri Lankan family, with an honest, no-frills stay in rustic cabanas right by the main lagoon. Plans can shift if the team waits for better wind and leaves later than expected. It may not suit you if you need a strict schedule, but their timing worked out well for us, and we always got great kiting trips with SWB.

Staying here makes me so happy. The instructors are easygoing, kind, and always ready to help, and the kitesurf lessons were really good. The whole team at sunwind resort was lovely and helpful. I’d definitely recommend it for a stay or to learn kite Surf 🌊 It’s friendly and cozy for solo travelers too, and an easy place to make new friends!

The lessons with Susantha and his team made this such a memorable experience. Everything is one-on-one, and the way they arrange the teaching feels almost like two sessions a day for the price of one. I improved quickly and felt the instructors really cared about helping me feel confident and comfortable on the water. The lagoon is ideal when you're starting out: it's shallow enough to stand in almost everywhere, and the steady wind makes learning easier and more fun. Susantha and the instructors are patient, kind, and welcoming. The camp is small and relaxed, with a friendly, family feel. It's the only locally owned school and kite camp here, which gives the place an authentic atmosphere rather than a big commercial-school vibe. I can't thank Susantha enough. If you're looking to learn kitesurfing in great conditions with lovely people, this is the place. Thuy and I would be delighted to host you in France anytime, Susantha! 🙌🇫🇷❤️

The days we spent here were the highlight of our Sri Lanka trip. The accommodation had a lovely communal feel, and breakfast and dinner were fantastic. Susantha and the team made learning kitesurfing really fun, and I could tell I was progressing quickly. They clearly care about the sport and about helping everyone get better. They also took us to great windy spots away from the other kite schools, which we really appreciated. I'd recommend this place to anyone heading to Sri Lanka. And if you're still unsure about going, this might just persuade you ;)

The rooms are basic, but the food is great, and the team really makes an effort to get you out to amazing kitesurfing spots away from the other schools. If you want to improve, I'd highly recommend learning here. The instructors are modest, super friendly, and among the best kitesurfers in Sri Lanka.
