The town view was good, the service and charges seemed fine, and the place was very clean when I visited before. It’s near Hanthana hotel, though getting there by road is difficult because of the mountain. I went back yesterday, and unfortunately it had become a very bad place. It was dirty and both rooms I changed to smelled bad. There were lights but no bulbs, the AC wasn’t working, and water was leaking all over the very bad toilet. The smell was awful.

For the price, I thought the stay was very good. The rooms were large and pleasant, the facilities clean, and the staff friendly. Breakfast was decent, and I liked having a balcony where we could eat and look out over Kandy. The uphill mountain location isn’t ideal, even though it gives you a great view. The city centre is 4km away, and a Tuktuk costs around 300-400 LKR. Otherwise, it was OK.

Their main business seems to be renting rooms to young couples for short stays. That in itself isn’t a problem, but there are a lot of downsides for tourism.

This is a secure place run by a friendly, decent family. The spacious rooms and excellent tea were lovely, and the Hantana setting is picturesque, with cool weather and breathtaking views.
